HGM2007 PUBLIC FORUM
Friday May 25, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Coeur des sciences, Amphitheatre
200 Sherbrooke St. West, Montreal
Language: French.
The Public Forum for HGM2007 in Montreal is planned as an interactive and constructive event for Secondary III to V students. Some 200 to 250 students are expected to attend.
This special event will last about 2.5 hours. First, spectators will participate in a play called "Jeux de société." Second, discussion will take place among the audience and three guest speakers. The aim of this brain-storming session is to reflect collectively upon the nature and content of a future version of the play's scenario, dreamed up and created by the cast of Théâtre Parminou.
Written over two years ago, the content of the play does not take into account recent scientific breakthroughs. It dwells more on the "reproductive" aspects of genomics and genetics. We voluntarily chose to keep the original scenario. So the audience could develop an up-to-date version of the play in a participatory way. This stimulating approach will illustrate the possibilities, limitations and impact of genomics and genetics today and for the future.
